In late January after a spell of slight insomnia, one night I caught a glimpse of my wife asleep. The light contrasting shape and form in a perfect way and I immediately went to the studio to try and recreate these forms and shapes. It was then I realized just how difficult it can be to portray sleep within a composition. The figure is still and silent. Life is dormant. The idea consumed me then, to bring life to an otherwise dormant state. When we sleep we dream, and in my dreams, there is a stage set with a cast of unknown actors.
